Covergirl Eyelights Eye-Brightening Eyeshadow and Mascara

Alright, my newest cosmetic purchase is the Covergirl Eyelights Eye-Brightening Eyeshadow and Mascara for green eyes (they also come in blue, brown and hazel versions). At left is the eyeshadow and below is the mascara.

The eyeshadow includes four colors:
- A light mauve
- A brighter pink
- A purple-ish brown
- An eggplant

The eyeshadow also comes with a sponge applicator and a eyeshadow brush. The brush works very well. It's very soft but is fairly large so making precise application isn't very easy. I recommend using the sponge applicator for a darker, more dramatic and precise application and the brush for a airier, more day-friendly look.

The eyeshadow itself goes on smoothly. The color picks up on the brush very well. I recommend using an eyeshadow primer (I like E.L.F Eyeshadow Primer. Only $1 and works very nicely.) to make the color stay on longer and make it a bit more opaque. The only thing I really didn't like with the colors is that the eggplant tone doesn't go on as deeply as they lead you to believe. Of the four colors the bright pink and the light mauve are probably my favorites. Also, another nice thing is the package comes with directions on how to apply the shadow to make your eyes pop even more.

Moving on to the mascara (on the far right). The Covergirl Eyelights Mascara for green eyes comes in the color Black Ruby. Now, normally I'm a traditional black mascara girl. Very rarely will I throw on any other color. This however is a nice shade that goes on very close to black. When you first take the applicator out of the bottle it looks almost like a metallic burgundy. The mascara worked very nicely and even made my lashes look longer. It did claim to be Non-Clumping but like most mascaras, it DID clump. Also, it's one of those rubber applicators so if you prefer and actual brush then don't buy this. Although, you could probably use a different mascara wand with it.

The eyeshadow cost around $7 and the mascara about $8 at Publix.

Did they brighten my eyes like they promised? In my opinion yes. It wasn't a drastic change but my eyes did look a bit more green than usual and did pop more.

Was it worth it? The mascara, yes. However, the eyeshadow contains colors that can be found with any brand so probably not for the shadow.

Eyeshadow
Pros: Smooth application, Nice brush applicator included
Cons: Colors aren't as vibrant as they should be, Colors are fairly generic

Mascara
Pros: Lengthened lashes, Long wear, Hypoallergenic
Cons: Clumps, Smudges fairly easily

Wet N Wild Natural Wear Lip Shimmer

Wet N Wild's Natural Wear Lip Shimmer

I bought this today at our local Walgreens. The color I purchased was 105 which I believe is the one on the bottom right. It is subtle but still visible. The color is more sheer than the tub leads you to believe but is still very true to the tone of the cap. It has small flecks of very fine gold glitter in it which of course give it it's shimmer.

The product has a minty smell and a bit of a mint taste to it however it is not very strong. What is strong however is the minty feel of it on your lips. If you have ever used a lip plumping product this feels like it's weaker cousin.

The packaging is cute. It looks like a very natural, organic product. I noticed the sticker on the bottom portion of mine was put on a little lopsided and is flaking up on the edge. However, I believe this to be a minor defect and is probably not typical of all of the tubes.

I would probably compare this to Burt's Bee's Lip Shimmer in Rhubarb. The scent is practically the same as is the color. However, you get more bang for your buck with the Wet N Wild. (Burt's Bees retails for around $5 and only 0.09oz. Wet N Wild retails for $2 and you get 0.11oz.)

Pros: Very true to the advertised color, nice scent
Cons: The feel of the gloss may be irritating to those with sensitive lips

What is "The Drug Dealer"?

Like many girls, I enjoy make-up. However, I don't live in an area that has Sephora stores or MAC counters. What do we have? Drugstores! This blog is a review of cosmetics that you find at your average drugstore and how well they live up to what they claim.

P.S. I consider stores such as grocery stores and Walmart drugstores when it comes to makeup. The prices generally run the same and they normally carry the same products.
